Returning Cyrille Almeniana spearheaded the Lady Altas by exploding for 27 points built on 25 attacks to even their win-loss record at 1-1.
It was the first victory of Perpetual against the fancied St. Benilde crew in seven years.
Shaila Omipon also paced the Lady Altas with 12 points, even as team captain Charisse Enrico and Jemalyn Menor chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Setter Fianne Ariola also spelled the difference for Perpetual by managing 20 excellent sets, while libero Jody Lozano took charge of the floor with 32 excellent digs and 15 receptions.
“Sabi ko sa kanila, wag bibitaw at yung composure at depensa,” said Perpetual Help coach Sandy Rieta.
Zamantha Nolasco topscored for St. Benilde with 25 points built on 21 attacks and four blocks, but her efforts went futile.
In the men’s side, Perpetual yielded to St. Benilde, 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-19.
