Over 250,000 parishioners and devotees participated in the Fiesta del Sto. Niño Grand Procession, highlighting the city’s enduring faith, unity, and cultural tradition in Pasay City on Sunday, Jan. 25.
Held in partnership with the local government and the Congregation del Nombre de Jesus, the event started at Pasay City Hall at around 3 p.m. and ended at the Manila-Pasay boundary.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, now in her fourth year as Hermana Mayor, was re-elected to the post along with her husband, Egay, a devotee of the Infant Jesus. The couple joined the procession, parading their image of Sto. Niño de Palaboy, which was decorated with pink flowers.
The mayor said a total of 91 colorful floats (carosas) carrying images of the Sto. Niño joined the procession. These came from various parts of Metro Manila and as far as Bacoor, Cavite.
The religious festivity, one of the most highly anticipated faith celebrations in Pasay City, featured vibrant Sto. Niño Carosas, with street performances and the participation of various religious and civic groups. Devotees joyfully expressed their faith and fulfilled their panata to Sto. Niño, the Child Jesus.
Rubiano added that the event was conducted peacefully with the assistance of 280 police personnel deployed under the supervision of Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto.
