Marcos declares special non-working days in select areas for local celebrations

President Marcos has declared several special non-working days in select localities in January and February 2026 to allow residents to properly observe important founding anniversaries and local festivals.
The proclamations were issued by authority of the President and signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, according to an advisory posted by the Office of the Executive Secretary.
January 26, 2026, has been declared a special non-working day in the City of Cadiz, Negros Occidental, in celebration of the 52nd Dinagsa Festival under Proclamation No. 1143.
February 2, 2026, has been declared a special non-working day in the Province of Ilocos Norte to mark its 208th founding anniversary, pursuant to Proclamation No. 1147.
February 3, 2026, has been declared a special non-working day in the City of Biñan, Laguna, in observance of its 81st Liberation Day under Proclamation No. 1144.
February 26, 2026, has been declared a special non-working day in the Municipality of Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, for its founding anniversary and the BOG Festival, under Proclamation No. 1145.
Lastly, February 28, 2026, has been declared a special non-working day in the Municipality of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, to mark its founding anniversary, pursuant to Proclamation No. 1146.
Malacañang said the declarations are meant to give residents the opportunity to participate in and enjoy their local celebrations while preserving the historical and cultural significance of the events.
