Preorders for BTS' 'Arirang' album reach 4-M copies; comeback show in Seoul set

From their new album to concerts, K-pop boy band BTS’ grand comeback has created a buzz worldwide. 

BTS will release their fifth studio album, “Arirang,” containing 14 tracks, on March 20, before they embark on their “Arirang” world tour in April. 

The preorders for BTS’ “Arirang” album reached four million copies. 

Big Hit Music, BTS' agency, announced on Jan. 23 that “Arirang’ has recorded 4.06 million copies in preorders from Jan. 16 to 22 based on data from distributor YG Plus, Korean media reported. 

The total surpassed the preorders for BTS’ fourth full-length album “Map of the Soul: 7,” which had 3.42 million copies in preorders in a week in 2020. By end of 2020, the album sold 3.83 million copies based on Hanteo Chart.

On Spotify, "presaves" for the “Arirang” album surpassed one million within two days of launch, and two million on the fourth day.

Concert 

Tickets during the presale of BTS’ concert in Goyang, South Korea have sold out. The three rounds of fan club presale sold out. 

In the US, Big Hit Music announced that due to demand, additional BTS shows will be held in Las Vegas, Tampa and Stanford.

Comeback show at Gwanghwamun Square 

Before the start of the BTS world tour, they will hold a comeback show for their album at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. 

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that during the 2026 1st Gwanghwamun Square Advisory Committee Meeting held on Jan 22, they decided to conditionally approve the the staging of the "BTS 2026 Comeback Show @ Seoul" concert, which was applied for by HYBE and Big Hit Music.

The National Heritage Service also conditionally approved HYBE's application to use the Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung Palace area, Korean media reported. 

The concert is scheduled to be held on March 21 and the number of attendees will be limited to 15,000 to 20,000 through advance registration. 

The Seoul metropolitan government plans to swiftly grant permission for the concert, subject to the approval of the safety management plan, once measures are taken to prevent overlap between performers and audience members and minimize traffic inconvenience. 

As large crowds are expected to gather in the city center, including Gwanghwamun Square, on the day of the concert, the Seoul metropolitan government will closely review the safety management plan and work with organizations, including the police and Jongno-gu District Office, to ensure audience safety as the top priority.
