LIPA CITY, Batangas – Police arrested a laborer who allegedly killed his 17-year-old former live-in partner here out of jealousy in Barangay San Isidro, Tinambac town, Camarines Sur province, on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The suspect, Jerry, 37, was taken into custody the Lipa City police after voluntarily surrendering to the Tinambac Municipal Police Station.
The victim, a resident of Barangay Sico, Lipa City, was reported missing after she failed to return home from a birth anniversary celebration in Barangay Tambo, Lipa City.
Her body was discovered by her brother on his way home in Barangay Sico.
A report said the suspect found out that she was in a relationship with a woman while delivering financial support to their child, became enraged, and killed her.
Jerry faces appropriate charges.
Meanwhile, a Grade 6 student drowned while swimming on a river in Lucena City, Quezon on Friday afternoon, Jan. 23.
Police said the victim went missing while swimming, prompting his classmates to return to their school and inform their teacher who sought assistance from the security guard.
His body was found during a search operation and taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
