CALASIAO, Pangasinan – Four children were killed and three others were injured in a collision between a trailer truck and a motorized tricycle in Barangay Ambalatungan, Santiago City, Isabela on Friday night, Jan. 23.

Police said the tricycle driven by a 17-year-old minor with six children as passengers allegedly made a sudden left turn and was accidentally struck by the truck driven by a 39-year-old man from Norzagaray, Bulacan.

Victims were taken to a hospital in Santiago City where four of them were declared dead and three under treatment.

Reports said that the victims – four siblings and their three cousins – were on their way home from school when the accident happened.

Both vehicles sustained undetermined damage.

The truck driver is under the custody of the Santiago City Police Station.

Follow-up investigation is ongoing to determine accountability and prevent similar incidents.
