Xavier leads three categories as JGFP Inter-School action returns Saturday

As the final stretch approaches in what is expected to be a another thrilling finish, teams from different schools vie for spots in the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP) Inter-School finale starting this week in various golf courses, from Vineyard, to Caliraya Springs, Eagle Ridge and Summit Point.
The annual tournament resumed last Jan. 18 as games were held in Royale Tagaytay Country Club and Vineyard Golf Club, with Xavier School taking the lead in three of the four categories - Senior High, Junior High and Lower School - all in Division 1, while leading all teams in Middle School Division 1 is Home School Global.
Through four of the possible six rounds of golf, Xavier’s Team 2 of Gabriel Lapuz, Akio Lee, Jude de Leon, Rey Chan and Evan Liam Tan have combined for 506 points, followed by the schools Team 1 and International School Manila, which are tied for second and third places with similar 446 points.
In Division 2 of Senior High, PAREF Southridge 1 has moved on top with 387 points, while currently at second and third are Life Academy International and Xavier 3; and occupying the top 3 places in Division 3 are Brent International School Manila 2 (201), The Beacon Academy (165) and Xavier 5.
In Junior High, Xavier 1 leads all teams in Division 1 with 500 points, followed by Xavier 2 (382) and De La Salle Zobel (361), while in Division 2 top three are Immaculate Conception Academy 1 (376), MGC New Life Academy (297) and Ateneo de Manila 1 (259), and DLSU Laguna 2 (377), PAREF SR 2 (260) and ICA 2 (225) occupy the 1-2-3 spots in Division 3.
In Middle School, the top three in Division 1 are Homeschool Global 2 (435), Brent (415) and Homeschool Global 1 (398); in Division 2 are MGC (333), Xavier 3 (322) and ICA 2 (317); and in Division 3 are Xavier Nuvali 2 (287), Beacon (251) and ICA 3 (219).
In Lower School, currently in the top three for Division 1 are Xavier (363), ICA (354) and PAREF SR (346); while in Division 2 are La Salle Zobel (279), Xavier Nuvali (270) and Xavier San Juan 3 (259); and in Division 3 are La Salle Laguna (203), Miriam College (153) and PAREF Woodrose 2 (121).
The top three teams in each category - Senior and Junior high school, Middle and Lower school - will advance in the finals for every division.
The Inter-School will have its culminating games at Caliraya for Division 3 on February 7, before it moves to Mimosa Plus for Division 1 on February 21, and Pradera Verde for Division 2 on February 22.
Meanwhile, the JGFP Visayas Cebu and Bacolod Inter-School will be played Jan. 24 and 25 at the Club Filipino de Cebu and Negros Golf and Country Club, which will be organized by the Negros Junior Golf Foundation.
