According to Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares, the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. after the SUV allegedly counterflowed, resulting in a collision with a passenger jeepney.
He noted that even with the double lane markings, rumble strips, and multiple warning signages installed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the SUV still counterflowed, as shown in closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
“Makikita sa kuha ng ating Command Center CCTV ang pag COUNTERFLOW ng Fortuner sa di malamang kadahilan na syang nagdulot na magkabanggaan sila ng pampasaherong jeep (The footage from our Command Center CCTV shows the Fortuner counterflowing for an unknown reason, which led to its collision with a passenger jeepney),” he said.
He added that some individuals sustained minor injuries and were immediately brought to the hospital for treatment, with the exact number of injured persons still being verified.
Ynares also said the drivers of both the SUV and the jeepney were brought to the police station for investigation.
Meanwhile, the mayor reminded the public to exercise caution for the safety of their passengers as well as others who could be affected.
