- Metro Manila 'kasambahay' to receive P800 monthly wage increase starting Feb. 7 under Wage Order No. NCR-DW-06.
- New minimum wage of P7,800 covers all domestic workers, whether hired directly by households or through licensed private employment agencies (PEAs).
Domestic workers in Metro Manila will receive an additional P800 in their monthly pay starting February 7, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced following the issuance of a new regional wage order.
The increase was approved under Wage Order No. NCR-DW-06 by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB).
DOLE said the adjustment raises the monthly minimum wage of kasambahays in the National Capital Region from P7,000 to P7,800.
The new rate applies to all domestic workers, whether hired directly by households or through licensed private employment agencies (PEAs).
For kasambahays employed through PEAs, the prescribed wage must be shouldered by household principals or clients, with employment contracts automatically updated to reflect the increase.
PEAs will be jointly liable with principals or clients in cases of non-compliance with the mandated wage adjustment.
The RTWPB emphasized that the wage increase is mandatory for all households in Metro Manila.
The move follows last year’s P50 daily minimum wage hike in the capital, reflecting continued efforts to help workers cope with rising living costs.
