Karltzy savage sparks Team Liquid gentleman's sweep of Aurora Turkiye

Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno scored a savage on the Yi Sun Shin as Team Liquid bucked a slow start to eliminate Aurora Gaming Turkiye, 3-1, and stay in the hunt in the M7 World Championship at the Tennis Indoor Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday, Jan. 23.

The Cavalry picked themselves up from a first-game hiccup and secured the next three games with Karltzy completing a savage in Game 2 to spark the gentleman’s sweep of the Europeans in their best-of-five affair in the lower bracket quarterfinals.

With Aurora threatening to make a comeback late in Game 2, Karltzy outplayed and took down Mehmet Ibrahim “Lunar” Ilgum who isolated him from the huge team fight at the 22nd minute mark.

Rejoining the rest of Team Liquid in the clash, Karltzy hunted down Aurora players to complete the impressive feat and more importantly tie the series at 1-1 with a 21-14 win.

Karltzy erupted with a 12-3-2 KDA as he scored his second savage in the M-series — the first of which came way back in M2 Worlds in 2020 with his signature Lancelot pick.

Riding the crest of that win, Team Liquid put on a much cleaner performance in Game 3, only needing 14 minutes to beat Aurora, 15-9, to take the series lead.

Karltzy, once again, was at the forefront of that with a neat 3-0-4 KDA on the Fredrinn pick while Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya chipped in a 5-2-5 line on the Arlott pick.

Aurora showed some resistance in Game 4, leading by as many as 7k in golds. But Team Liquid only needed a victory in the 16th minute Lord clash, taking out three Aurora heroes.

A combination of the Shadow Kill ultimate from Karltzy’s Hayabusa and the Blazing Duet from Kiel “Oheb” Soriano’s Claude proved to be too much for Aurora to survive in the final Lord siege.

Team Liquid claimed the series-clinching win with Karltzy putting up a 5-2-5 line while Oheb chipped in a 2-2-8 KDA as the Filipinos successfully recovered from a quick 11-minute loss to Aurora in Game 1.
