In an interview on Friday, Jan. 23, Ejercito said that this would show political instability.
"Meron na nga tayong flood control scandal, meron pang mga impeachment (We already have a flood control scandal, we even have an impeachment). So [there’s] nothing positive to look forward to," he said.
"Kung matuloy nga yung impeachment ng dalawa, then that would really paint a bad picture of us internationally (If the impeachment of the two pushes through, that would really paint a bad picture of us internationally)," he added.
The senator said that he has nothing against accountability, but stated that they have to show the world that they're still doing something positive for the country.
He added that as a senator, whether they are in favor of the impeachment or not — president or the vice president, it’s their constitutional duty to hear it.
Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay endorsed on Jan. 19 an impeachment complaint against President Marcos, the first under the latter's administration. The impeachment complaint, which cited six arguments, was prepared by a private citizen, lawyer Andre de Jesus.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte said she is expecting the supposedly impending impeachment complaint against her, alleging that those behind it would only do so because of money.
