The city government of Pasay has urged residents to remain vigilant against influenza-like illnesses by consistently practicing preventive health measures under the “EMI Habit” campaign.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, in partnership with the City Health Office, reminded Pasayeños influenza-like illnesses are caused by various viruses or bacteria that result in infections, especially amid unpredictable weather changes.
Rubiano said health officials have warned that such illnesses can spread rapidly, particularly in crowded and poorly ventilated areas, posing greater health risks to vulnerable sectors such as children, senior citizens, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
As part of the city’s preventive campaign, residents are encouraged to observe the E.M.I. Habit, which stands for: E – ensure regular handwashing; M – mask is a must, especially in public places; and I – implement physical distancing in crowded areas.
The city government called on the public to cooperate by following these simple yet effective health practices to help reduce the spread of illnesses and keep communities safe and healthy.
Rubiano added that although the city has not recorded any surge in cases, residents are advised to immediately visit their nearest health center once they experience symptoms of influenza-like illnesses.
