VICTIMS of a horrific road accident in Isabela have received financial assistance.
The municipal government of Luna in Isabela province has provided assistance to the victims of an accident involving a dump truck and passenger jeepney in Barangay Mambabanga, Luna, on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
Mayor Adrian Tio condoled with the families of the three fatalities and said financial and medical assistance have been extended to the bereaved families and the injured who are now recovering in hospitals.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered the LTFRB-Region 2 to fast-track the processing of insurance claims for the victims in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen assistance for road accident victims.
LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said immediate support, including the prompt release of insurance benefits, must be provided to the affected families.
Initial investigation by the Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Region 2 showed that the dump truck allegedly lost control due to over speeding and slippery road conditions and collided with an oncoming passenger jeepney.
The LTO-Region 2 has issued a show-cause order against the dump truck driver for alleged reckless driving and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The driver has been given three days from receipt of the order to explain why his driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked.
Failure to respond will be considered a waiver of his right to be heard, and the case will be resolved based on available evidence.
