ACMobility, BYD extend partnership amid record Philippine EV demand
BYD Cars Philippines renews its distributorship with ACMobility led by (from left) Sharyn Jacobsen, Chief Finance Officer, ACMobility; Liu Xueliang, General Manager, BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division, and Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, Chief Executive Officer, ACMobility.
BYD Co. and the Ayala-backed ACMobility have renewed their passenger-car distribution agreement in the Philippines, securing a long-term alliance following a year of record-breaking growth for the Chinese electric vehicle giant.
In a statement, BYD Philippines said the extension ensures steady pipeline of new technologies and aftersales support as the brand attempts to consolidate its lead in the local New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market.
The partnership, which was first established in August 2023, has already yielded significant returns. BYD Cars Philippines concluded 2025 with 26,122 units in retail sales, a 446 percent year-on-year increase.
Last year’s sales made BYD the fastest-growing automotive brand in the country and solidified its position as the market leader for electrified transport.
High consumer demand across a diversifying product lineup fueled the momentum. The BYD Seagull emerged as the top-selling battery-electric vehicle with 4,608 sales, while the Sealion 6 DM-i led the brand’s plug-in hybrid range.
The results reflect a sharpening preference among Filipino drivers for sustainable mobility as charging infrastructure becomes more accessible.
“Two thousand twenty-five marked a significant milestone in the advancement and broader adoption of New Energy Vehicles in the country,” Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines said.
“BYD’s strong growth underscores our sustained commitment to democratizing electrified mobility. It demonstrates that when innovation is paired with accessibility, the market responds positively. We remain firmly focused on making electric vehicles attainable for Filipino households nationwide,” he added.
The alliance has also enabled a rapid physical expansion. By the end of 2025, BYD reached its target of 79 operational dealerships across the Philippines, up from 25 locations at the close of 2024.
This network provides the foundation for the brand’s aftersales ecosystem, which includes integrated charging points and service centers.
Both companies said they remain focused on scaling the network further and enhancing the ownership experience for the thousands of Filipinos now choosing the brand.
“These milestones are a clear signal of our unwavering, long-term commitment to the Philippine market,” said Adam Hu, Country Head of BYD Philippines. “Together with ACMobility, we are committed to fueling this momentum and making new energy vehicles the standard, not the exception, for Filipino drivers.”
