22-year-old nabbed for statutory rape case while getting police clearance in Taguig
Police arrested a 22-year-old man for two cases of statutory rape when he applied for a police clearance in Taguig on Jan. 21.
The accused was identified as alias Shamir, K9 handler, and a resident of Barangay Upper Bicutan, Taguig.
He was arrested inside the Taguig police's Sub-station 7 office in Barangay Upper Bicutan. He was undergoing processing for the issuance of a police clearance when police discovered during verification that he had an outstanding warrant of arrest.
The warrant of arrest was issued for two cases involving two counts of statutory rape under the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act No. 11648 (An Act Providing for Stronger Protection Against Rape and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Increasing the Age for Determining the Commission of Statutory Rape).
It was issued on Dec. 12, 2024 by Presiding Judge Desiree Gertrude Orquiola-Moldez of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 163, Taguig City. No bail was recommended by the court.
The accused was tagged as the Taguig police's No. 1 most wanted person for January.
He was turned over to the Warrant and Subpoena Section of the Taguig police for documentation.

Randy Arceo, district director of the Southern Police District, said crimes involving children and minors will never be tolerated and assured the public that law enforcement units will continue to intensify efforts to locate and arrest individuals with standing warrants, regardless of time or circumstance.
