Muntinlupa LGU lowers tricycle franchise fee

The Muntinlupa City government lowered the franchise fee by half for tricycles operating in the city. 

Mayor Ruffy Biazon announced that the tricycle franchise fee will now be P750 from P1,500 through the amendment of Ordinance No. 2024-232, which imposed the fee. 

The Muntinlupa City Council passed an ordinance to amend the ordinance. Last year, the implementation of the new tricycle franchise fee was suspended for a year and was scheduled to take effect this year. 

“Nagpapasalamat tayo kay Transportation Committee Chair, Konsehal Ting Niefes sa kanyang buong suporta sa ating inisyatiba na pababain ang franchise fee para sa mga tricycle na bumibiyahe sa Muntinlupa. Sa pamamagitan ng pag-amyenda sa Ordinansa Blg. 2024-232, mula P1,500 ay naging P750 na lamang ang bayarin, isang malaking ginhawa para sa ating mga driver at operator (“We thank Transportation Committee Chair, Councilor Ting Niefes for his full support in our initiative to reduce the franchise fee for tricycles plying in Muntinlupa. Through the amendment of Ordinance No. 2024-232, the fee has been reduced from P1,500 to P750, a great relief for our drivers and operators),” Biazon said.

He added, “Layunin nito na mabawasan ang kanilang pinansyal na pasanin, lalo na sa gitna ng patuloy na pagtaas ng gastusin sa araw-araw, at upang mas mapalakas ang kanilang kabuhayan. Maraming salamat din sa buong City Council sa agarang pagpasa ng ordinansa at sa patuloy na pakikinig sa pangangailangan ng ating transport sector (This aims to reduce their financial burden, especially amid the continuous increase in daily expenses, and to further strengthen their livelihoods. Many thanks also to the entire City Council for the prompt passage of the ordinance and for continuing to listen to the needs of our transport sector).” 

The tricycle fee includes franchise fee, supervision fee, sticker, confirmation fee, business tax, mayor’s permit, filing fee and ID card for the driver.
