Marcos impeachment rap sent to Speaker's office; here's what will happen next

The impeachment complaint filed against President Marcos has been formally transmitted on Tuesday, Jan. 20 to the office of House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III.
This was confimed by House Secretary General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil in a statement Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, in a move that was described as "marking the start of the chamber’s internal process in performing its constitutional mandate".
“Pursuant to established procedure, the Office of the Secretary General has transmitted the verified impeachment complaint to the Office of Speaker Faustino ‘Bojie’ G. Dy III for appropriate action,” Garafil said.
On Monday, Jan. 19, lawyer Andre de Jesus gained the distinction of being the first to file an impeachment complaint against President Marcos at the House of Representatives. Deputy Minority Leader Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay endorsed the 12-page document.
The complaint cited three grounds (culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and graft and corruption) for the Chief Executive's ouster, spread across six specific allegations.
Garafil--the first to receive the De Jesus complaint--said that her office’s role was administrative in nature and was guided strictly by the Constitution, House rules and long-standing protocol.
As per existing rules, the House secretary general must immediately transmit the impeachment complaint to the Office of the House Speaker.
The Speaker will then have 10 session days to transmit the complaint to the plenary, through the Committee on Rules. From there, the rules panel has three days to refer the matter to the Committee on Justice.
Once it has the complaint, the justice panel has 60 days to determine whether or not it is sufficient in both form and substance.
The House of Representatives is currently on holiday break. It will reconvene plenary sessions on Monday, Jan. 26.
