Tricycle driver in QC faces multiple violations after viral video
A tricycle driver faces multiple violations after a video went viral, allegedly showing the driver counter-flowing on North Avenue near a shopping mall in Quezon City on Saturday evening, January 17.
In the viral video, the tricycle driver, identified as Jerald Sese, was seen confronting a car driver who took and posted the video.
Sese allegedly counterflowed on North Avenue, heading to EDSA, where the construction of an MRT-7 Station is ongoing. Due to the project, a counterflow traffic scheme was implemented in the area.
The tricycle driver was issued a Show-Cause Order by the Land Transportation Office and was summoned by the Quezon City Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD) and the Tricycle Regulatory Division.
Sese claimed that he did not go against the traffic as the road is a two-way traffic at night.
During the initial investigation of the TTMD, the tricycle driver was in the right lane at the time of the incident.
Sese appeared before the TTMD on Tuesday, Jan. 20, with his father, who is the operator of the tricycle he drives, as well as the president of the Pag-asa TODA, for a dialogue.
While he is confirmed to be in the right lane, officials said Sese violated multiple ordinances, including the tricycle ban on national roads, operating a vehicle without proper permits, and the Motorized Tricycle Operator’s Permit (MTOP).
He was also found to be operating a motor vehicle with a non-professional driver’s license and an expired or invalid license.
The tricycle was impounded by TTMD.
