Former senator Bong Revilla is now detained at the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) following the commitment order issued by the Sandiganbayan for his alleged involvement in the P92.8 million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, , the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.
Revilla was committed at around 2:28 p.m. in the QCJMD facility, according to the statement issued by the DILG.
It added that Revilla is being accorded the same treatment, security measures, and jail management protocols as all other persons deprived of liberty, in strict adherence to existing laws, rules and regulations.
BJMP spokesman Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera said Revilla's detention cell measures 47 square meters, ive double deck beds and one comfort room with shower.
He said the jail can accommodate 10 people but it is not immediately clear if there are other persons deprived of liberty inside the jail.
Bustinera said the jail has 3,612 detainees prior to the commitment of Revilla to the facility, adding that the former senator is in the "general population" area.
In an earlier press briefing, DILG Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic’’ Remulla said that the Camp Crame Custodial facility for high-profile personalities will no longer be an option for Revilla.
Remulla explained that the facility is set for demolition this month to give way to the construction of the new infrastructure
