Wunderkind Mazel Paris Alegad continued to excel on the global stage after ruling the women’s park event of the DC Concert Line Pro Series in Buenos Aires, Argentina over the weekend.
Alegado, a Fontana, California native, dazzled in the opening rounds to punch her ticket in the finals where she bested her foreign rivals to reign supreme in their division before the impressed foreign crowd.
“Muchas gracias Argentina!” Alegado wrote on her social media post. “Huge thanks to @skarte.ar @nahuelmartinezsk8 and of course @felialzein and her family. Thanks for being the best host! And to all the new friends/skate fam we made. Gracias! We love Argentina.”
It was a triumphant run that marked her third straight win in international competition, following her success at the California's Exposure Skate Women’s Bowl Open Pro in November.
It was followed by her historic stint in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand last December.
There, Alegado and her fellow 11-year-old skater made historic gold and silver finishes in the women’s skatepark event as they became the youngest Filipinos ever to snare a medal in the biennial meet.
Their mentor Jericho Francisco Jr. was also a victor in the men’s category.
Alegado isn't new to record-breaking appearances, having already achieved the feat more than two years ago during her maiden campaign at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where she was the youngest member of the national team at nine years old.
Alegado reached the finale but failed to clinch a podium spot.
