'It's all about money': Sara says she's expecting fresh impeachment raps
Vice President Sara Duterte said she is expecting the supposedly impending impeachment complaint against her, allegeding that those behind it would only do so because of money.
"As expected as well, magiging katulad lang din 'yan noong nakaraan na ginagawang fundraising ng mga members of the House of Representatives yung pagpirma nila sa impeachment (It's going to be what happened before, when House members would do some fundraising so they could get signatories for the impeachment complaint)," said Duterte, who is currently at The Hague, in an interview on Monday, Jan. 19.
"It's all about the money diyan (there)," she added.
Currently, there are still no formal talks about a fresh impeachment complaint against the Vice President. But Duterte's political rivals and critics previously floated such an idea, saying they might do so once the one-year ban on a new impeachment complaint lapses.
In July 2025, the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional the impeachment complaint that the House of Representatives filed against Duterte in February on the basis that it violated the right to due process.
The High Court then said that any subsequent impeachment complaint may only be filed starting February 6, 2026.
Meanwhile, Duterte said she still has no comment on the impeachment complaint filed against President Marcos, her political ally-turned-enemy.
"Sa ngayon, wala pa. Antayin natin ang mga susunod na mga araw kung meron akong reaction (As of now, I still don't have any reaction. Maybe let's wait for more days if I'll have a reaction)," she added.
