Basilan town mayor passes away

ZAMBOANGA CITY –  Mayor Lukman Ingatun G. Istarul of Tipo-Tipo, Basilan died Monday evening, Jan. 19, from a heart attack. He was 63.
Government officials, religious leaders, and residents of Tipo-Tipo and Basilan condoled with the family of Istarul.
“We stand with the people of Tipo-Tipo during this difficult time. We pray that Allah (SWT) grants the late mayor forgiveness and eternal rest in paradise, and gives strength and comfort to his bereaved family and constituents,” Gov. Mujiv Hataman said.
“Istarul’s passing is not only a profound loss to his family but to his constituents, and to the service of local governance in Basilan,” the city government of Isabela said.
Istarul’s son described his father as “ the foundation of our family and the heart of the community.”
Istarul’s family has asked continued du‘ā (supplication) and prayers from the public.
They asked that his good deeds be accepted, that he be granted Jannatul Firdaus (the highest paradise), and that his loved ones be given patience and strength during this difficult time.
