'Amihan' brings light rains over Northern Luzon as TD Ada continues to move away
The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will continue to bring cloudy skies and light rains over Northern Luzon on Tuesday, Jan. 20, as Tropical Depression Ada (Nokaen) moves farther away from the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Due to the amihan, cloudy skies with light rains are expected over Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley over the next 24 hours.
Ilocos Region and Central Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
As of 4 a.m., the center of Ada was located 675 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 70 kph.
It is no longer affecting any part of the country.
PAGASA said the weather disturbance is expected to move generally eastward before turning south-southeastward from Tuesday until Wednesday, Jan. 21.
It explained that continuous dry air from the amihan is likely to gradually weaken the weather system, which may be downgraded into a low pressure area by Wednesday.
However, earlier weakening remains possible.
