Two men were arrested after robbing a hardware store and stealing around P21,600 worth of wires in Taytay, Rizal on Sunday night, Jan. 18.
The Taytay Municipal Police Station (Taytay MPS) identified the suspects as “Balong” and “Sergio.” They were arrested after a concerned citizen reported them while they were attempting to flee the store.
Based on the investigation, one of the suspects broke into the hardware store in Barangay San Juan at around 11:52 p.m. by destroying the roll-up door using a stainless pipe, while the other suspect served as the lookout.
The suspect allegedly took three boxes of 5.5 wire amounting to around P7,200 per box.
As the suspects were about to leave the area, a concerned citizen saw them and immediately reported the incident to police officers who were conducting patrol operations nearby, which resulted in their arrest.
The stolen wires were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
The suspects are now in the custody of Taytay MPS and are facing robbery charges.
