Solon-endorser of impeachment rap vs Marcos says he's not working for VP Duterte

Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay, the congressman-endorser of the impeachment complaint that was filed against President Marcos on Monday morning, Jan. 19, denied links to administration critic Vice President Sara Duterte.
"Are you working with the side of the Vice President?" was the question hurled at Nisay in a chance interview shortly after he announced his backing of the impeachment complaint--the first against Marcos.
"No," replied the deputy minority leader.
He was then asked what his motivation was in endorsing the complaint filed by lawyer Andre de Jesus, a private citizen.
"Siguro nung nilapit sa akin ni Atty. Andre, pinag-aralang mabuti. Actually, hindi lang naman ako nag-aral nito--syempre, yung mga legal natin. So pinag-aralan namin ng halos ilang weeks. Nakita namin na ito yung hinahanap ng ating mga kababayan," Nisay said.
(When Atty. Andre brought this to me, it was studied carefully. In fact, I wasn’t the only one who examined it—our legal team did as well. We studied it for several weeks and saw that this was what our people had been looking for.)
However, Nisay left it to the complainant to explain the details of the impeachment complaint for the benefit of the public.
"Siguro lalabas ito sa mga susunod na araw, mas mapapaliwanag ni Atty. Andre yung [anim] na argumento ng impeachment complaint, para mas lalong maintindihan ng ating kababayan," he said.
(Maybe this will come out in the next few days, it will be better explained by Atty. Andre, particularly the six arguments of the impeachment complaint, so that our people can better understand them.)
Nisay's endorsement is crucial, since without it, De Jesus' complaint is a mere piece of paper and cannot be received by the House Secretary General.
Vice President Duterte and her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte are the two biggest critics of President Marcos.
President Marcos and Vice President Duterte were running mates during the May 2022 elections. They had a falling out in 2023.
