ILOILO CITY – MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) of the Razon group is expanding from this city to Iloilo province.
A power line was successfully installed in Pavia town with International Builders Corp. (IBC), the region’s biggest contractor becoming its first consumer in Iloilo province.
“This is just the beginning. We are very excited to cater to more consumers in Pavia, Iloilo, proving that nothing is impossible with us,” said MORE Power President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Castro during the power line migration ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 18.
IBC no longer receives power supply from Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO-1) which operates the power distribution in Pavia.
“Serving the consumers will be our topmost priority here at MORE Power. I am very thankful to IBC for trusting us with this commitment,” added Castro.
MORE Power took over Panay Electric Co. (PECO) as the sole power distributor here in 2020.
By July 2022, Republic Act No. 11918 was passed, expanding MORE Power’s franchise area to the towns of the second and fourth districts of Iloilo.
ILECO-I, ILECO-II, and ILECO-III tried to challenge
MORE Power’s expansion as unconstitutional but the Supreme Court denied their position and upheld that RA 11918 is legal.
Also present during the ceremony were Pavia Vice Mayor Edsel Gerochi, IBC founder Alfonso Tan, and IBC Vice President for Operations Alvin Tan.
