Col. Julius Añonuevo is the new chief of the Taguig police, replacing Col. Byron Allatog who served for six months.
Before assuming his new post as officer-in-charge of the Taguig police, Añonuevo was the provincial director of the Albay Police Provincial Office in the Bicol Region.
On Jan. 19, Añonuevo addressed the Taguig police force and emphasized the importance of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
“Siren is a sign of authority. Pag nag-siren ka, may nag-aaway. Ibig sabihin may pulis. The blinker. Pag nakita niya nag-blinker yan, titigil na yan. Pulis yun. So sana lahat tayo may pakialam. Lahat tayo may pakialam. Kapag mali yung kasama natin, mali. Instill discipline among yourselves, ourselves, so that we can instill discipline sa ating subordinates. Discipline na lang (When you sound the siren, someone is fighting. That means there is a policeman. The blinker. When he sees that blinker, he will stop. That is the policeman. So hopefully we all care. We all care. When someone with us is wrong, it is wrong. Instill discipline among yourselves, ourselves, so that we can instill discipline in our subordinates. Just discipline),” he said.
Añonuevo previously served as the commander of the Manila Police District’s District Mobile Force Battalion and chief of the Batangas City police.
Allatog, who started his duty in Taguig in June last year, said, “My six-month tour of duty as Officer-in-Charge of the Taguig City Police Station was both an honor and a privilege. The support and cooperation of the city and barangay officials, together with the dedication of our police personnel, greatly enriched my experience and strengthened my commitment to public service. As I formally sign off, I carry with me valuable lessons and lasting partnerships, and I look forward to working with you again in the future.”
Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano commended Allatog for his service in the city, saying, “Our heartfelt gratitude goes to PCol. Byron F. Allatog for his dedicated leadership of the Taguig police force during his very productive tenure as our city’s Chief of Police. Your commitment and service have truly made a difference in our community.”
“We pray for your safety and continued success as you move forward in your journey within the Philippine National Police. We are confident that you will continue to inspire, help, and serve more people as you take on your next assignment,” she said.
