Clutch Edward saves the day as Aurora Gaming PH sends Team Liquid to M7 lower bracket
Edward “Edward” Dapadap stepped up big time in the crunch and helped Aurora Gaming PH to a gutsy 2-1 victory over Team Liquid to advance to the upper bracket semifinals in the M7 World Championship at the XO Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia on Sunday, Jan. 18.
The veteran EXP laner, on the Yu Zhong pick, went for the perfectly timed engage in the crucial 16th minute Lord clash, not only allowing Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto to steal the major objective but also spearhead his team to a series-clinching wipeout of the Cavalry.
Playing catchup in Game 3 with the series on the line, Edward showed nerves of steel and dove through the TLPH backline to disrupt their position around the Lord.
He even caught Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno’s Lancelot and Alston “Sanji” Pabico before the rest of the Northern Lights followed up and hunted down every member of Team Liquid to extend their M7 winning run to four matches.
The win also helped Aurora arrest a two-game losing skid against TLPH which defeated them in the grand finals of the MPL Philippines Season 16 and in the opening round of the M7 swiss stage.
Edward stamped his class with a 4-2-5 line in the huge comeback win — reminiscent of the series opener where Aurora also defeated TLPH following a big Lord fight.
Dylan “Light” Catipon had a clutch tectonic charge on his Grock pick to crowd control Karltzy and allow Demonkite to draw first blood in the series, 14-10. Jan “Domengkite” Del Mundo ran wild on the Granger with an 8-1-5 KDA while Light added a 0-1-10 tally.
Refusing to go down without a fight, TLPH went on a rampage and ran over Aurora in Game 2.
Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya on the Uranus and Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz on the Khaleed took turns denying Demonkite of his resources while Karltzy got everything he wanted in the jungle.
TLPH forced the decider with a rousing 11-4 win. That, however, were not enough as they still found themselves falling to lower bracket where they need to survive to keep their Golden Road hopes alive.
Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto was scoreless all throughout Game 3 but made his presence felt when it mattered the most.
