Computer specialist rescued in Pasay; 2 Chinese suspects arrested

A computer specialist of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) provider information, was rescued by members of the Pasay City Police after he was kidnapped and illegally detained by two Chinese nationals in Pasay City on Jan. 16.
Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the victim as Jialin Ye, 25, a Mexican-Chinese dual citizen temporarily residing at Unit 2907, Tower B, 2201 Residences, Barangay 13, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
The suspects were identified as Jiaxiang Yu, 38, and Zhiyong Xu, 34, both Chinese nationals.
They were arrested at around 10:55 a.m. inside the unit occupied by the victim.
De Sesto said the victim managed to send a text message to a friend, identified only by the alias “Rance,” asking for help after being illegally detained by the suspects.
The suspects allegedly demanded an additional 1 million USD in cryptocurrency for his release, which the victim refused.
The police chief added that the victim declined to make another cryptocurrency transfer, stating that he had already transferred 400,000 USD to the suspects.
Upon learning of the incident, Rance immediately coordinated with Pasay City Police Substation 1, prompting a rescue operation and the arrest of the suspects.
Members of the Pasay City Police Substation 1 coordinated with the condominium’s security office to review CCTV footage before proceeding to the victim’s unit.
Police officers forcibly opened the door, leading to the successful rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects.
Authorities recovered a pair of handcuffs and a knife allegedly used by the suspects to threaten the victim.
The suspects are currently detained at the Pasay City Police custodial facility while charges are being prepared against them.
