BACOLOD CITY – Two laborers were allegedly stabbed to death by their companion after he was annoyed over their teasing in Purok Orchids, Barangay Santol, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Jan. 15.
Police identified the victims as Arnel, 25, and Lemping, 61.
Police Capt. Joelan Vinson, Binalbagan police chief, said the victims, along with three others, including the 30-year-old suspect Joelyn, were on their way home from a drinking session when an argument erupted between Joelyn and Lemping.
The suspect took a knife and stabbed Lemping in the back and leg. Arnel intervened but he was also stabbed in the chest and back. Arnel was declared dead in a hospital and Lemping died on Friday afternoon, Jan. 16. The suspect tried to attack a witness who managed to run.
Barangay tanods arrested the suspect and was turned over to the police. However, authorities failed to recover the murder weapon.
Murder charges are being readied against the suspect who told police that he was teased by his companions and was irked, prompting him to stab the victims.
