ORION, Bataan – A woman was killed and four others were injured in a collision between a car and a tanker truck on Roman Highway in Barangay Puting Buhangin here on Friday, Jan. 16.
Police Major Madtaib Jalman, chief of the Orion Municipal Police Station, said the car, a Honda Civic, allegedly encroached into the tanker truck’s lane and hit its front left portion, causing a brief explosion.
All occupants of the car and the tanker truck driver sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital where the female passenger was declared dead.
Jalman said that the car driver and passengers had just attended a wedding when they figured in the accident.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that the car driver fell asleep while driving.
The tanker truck was carrying 24,000 liters of diesel and 6,000 liters of gasoline.
Both vehicles sustained undetermined damage.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing. The car driver is facing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.
Jalman advised people to rest before driving to avoid this kind of accident.
