Mandaluyong City gears up for more solo parent-centered services, initiatives
The Mandaluyong City local government concluded the pilot testing of its much-awaited solo parents database in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday, Jan. 15, as part of its efforts in streamlining the delivery of government services to its residents.
Under the system, the registration, verification, and ID generation of solo parent applicants will be more efficient, allowing for the faster distribution of aid and other services to the said sector.
"Bahagi din ng aktibidad na ito na mapahusay ang system performance at makakalap ng feedback mula sa mga stakeholder, bilang paghahanda sa mas organisado at mabilis na paghahatid ng mga benepisyo para sa mga karapat-dapat na solo parent—patunay ng patuloy na malasakit at suporta ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Mandaluyong sa sektor na ito (This activity is also part of improving system performance and gathering feedback from stakeholders, in preparation for a more organized and speedy delivery of benefits for eligible solo parents—proof of the Mandaluyong City Government's continued concern and support for this sector)," Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos said.
Mandaluyong City Ordinance 941 allowed for the creation of a dedicated solo parents office, which will be supervised by the DSWD.
The office is tasked with providing qualified solo parents in Mandaluyong with their privileges and other assistance, as well as going after establishments or individuals that refuse to honor their privileges.
Under the ordinance, qualified solo parents will also receive free livelihood aid, financial support, medical assistance, and other social aid in times of disasters and calamities.
