Faster emergency response time in Metro Manila eyed as MMC, MMDA forge stronger ties
Metro Manila Council (MMC) President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora met with newly installed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Gen. Manager Nicolas Torre III on Thursday, Jan. 15, as the two eye stronger cooperation and coordination in matters involving the National Capital Region (NCR).
Torre paid a courtesy visit to Zamora at the San Juan City Hall as the two exchanged plans, ideas, and possible project collaborations between the MMDA and the MMC.
During their meeting, Torre bared his plan of improving the emergency response time of the MMDA during accidents, particularly vehicular crashes, on the primary roads and avenues in Metro Manila.
He also laid out some guidelines toward the regular removal of garbage and other wastes from the different bodies of water surrounding Metro Manila to prevent flooding.
For his part, Zamora told Torre about the city's abolition of street pay parking, which helped achieve faster and more efficient travel in San Juan City.
The mayor also assured Torre of the MMC's full support of the MMDA, as well as the openness of other Metro Manila mayors in coordinating with the agency for the creation of more projects and initiatives for the further development of Metro Manila.
