The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through its attached agency the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), said Friday, Jan. 16, that the minimum wage review processes in the Bicol and Davao regions are on track and fully compliant with legal timelines amid questions over the pace of adjustments.
In a statement, the NWPC said the 60-day window to commence the wage determination process for the Davao Region began on Jan. 6.
The commission added that the corresponding period for the Bicol Region will start on Feb. 4.
This places both regions well within the legally mandated timeframe, the NWPC noted.
The commission stressed that labor representatives in the regional wage boards are fully aware of the prescribed schedules and rules for wage determinations.
The NWPC reiterated its commitment to working closely with the boards to ensure wage decisions are timely, evidence-based, and balanced, taking into account both worker welfare and enterprise sustainability.
