Two fugitives from the Tabuk City Jail have surrendered to the Kalinga Provincial Police Office.
The suspects were identified as Michael Macagne, 39, and Andres Benito Jr., 35.
Benito surrendered on Jan. 15. Macagne turned himself in on Jan. 16, accompanied by his sister and former Tabuk chief of police Police Lt. Col. Jack Angog.
The two suspects were detained last Dec. 17 at the Tabuk City Jail for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
They fled the detention facility in Barangay Laya West ON Jan. 4 by cutting the round railings of their cell using a hacksaw blade.
Their escape led to the relief of Angog and the assignment of Police Lt. Col. Domingo Gambican as officer-in-charge of the Tabuk City Police Station to ensure an impartial investigation.
