The cold weather and warm hospitality of Tanay, Rizal complement each other, inviting more local and foreign tourists to visit the town known for its nature and adventure activities.

The local government of Tanay is encouraging visitors to enjoy the remaining weeks of colder breeze, especially in the town’s upland villages, which boast lakeshore and mountain scenic views in this picturesque municipality of Rizal Province.

Mayor Rex Manuel “RM” Tanjuatco said the fresh, cool air should be savored by tourists before the "Amihan" (Northeast monsoon) season ends in a few weeks, as the town offers adventure and nature activities for all ages.

Nestled at the foot of the majestic Sierra Madre Mountain Range, Tanay provides the ultimate escape to breathtaking natural wonders, along with sumptuous food and drinks offered by its rest and recreational facilities, Mayor Tanjuatco added.

Beyond the scenic views of Tanay's upland villages, local communities welcome visitors and entrepreneurs with their signature hospitality. This has led to the growth of coffee shops, restaurants, lodging facilities, and recreational areas.

Such warmth was experienced entrepreneur Gloria Valdez and her family when they established Pico de Pino Café and Restaurant in 2015 along the MARILAQUE Highway in Barangay Cuyambay, one of Tanay's highland villages.

Valdez said the warm acceptance they received from locals and the municipal government when they started their business -- and continue to receive today -- is reciprocated by their family and staff through their service to customers.

At the restaurant, visitors are greeted with a smile, from the parking attendant to the receptionist and dining staff, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere from arrival to departure.

Customers may even personally meet Mrs. Valdez and her children, who actively mingle with staff and visitors, from welcoming guests to assisting in the food preparation.

Tanay LGU’s municipal administrator, Jeff Pino, told Manila Bulletin that the food hub’s ambiance, delectable Filipino and international-inspired dishes, and the warm hospitality of the Valdez family and staff may be among the reasons why Pico de Pino Café and Restaurant has received numerous recognitions from government agencies, private groups, and social media bloggers.

Mayor Tanjuatco also assured that tourists are safe when visiting Tanay's lowland and upland destinations. The presence of local peacekeeping officers, police, and military personnel from the 2nd Infantry Division based in Barangay Sampaloc, ensures the town remains a secure destination for everyone.

During this season, temperatures average 17 to 18 degrees Celsius in Tanay's upland villages, with the famous "sea of clouds" appearing in the early morning atop the mountains, or foggy surroundings enveloping the area by late afternoon.
