LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A 68-year-old carpenter died and eight people, including the driver, were injured after their multi-purpose vehicle rammed a concrete barrier in Barangay Gulang-Gulang, this city, before dawn on Thursday, Jan. 15.
Police identified the victim as Saturnino of Villa Esperanza, Masbate.
Investigation said the victims were on their way to Manila from Masbate when their driver failed to notice the concrete barrier and crashed.
Saturnino died on the spot and Richard, 45, driver; and passengers Jovie, 28; Reynan, 22; JM Dequino, a minor; Jefrel, 20; Rodel, 29; Marilyn, 51; and Jonel, 35, were injured. The injured were taken to the hospital.
Richard faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, damage to property, and physical injuries.
