Pickup driver hurt after crashing into post during chase in Antipolo

A pickup driver was injured after crashing into a post while being chased by another vehicle he reportedly hit in Barangay Dalig, Antipolo City, Rizal on Wednesday night, Jan. 14.

According to the Antipolo City Component Police Station (CCPS), the pickup, driven by a 50-year-old man, and the chasing car were both traveling in the same direction along E. Rodriguez Avenue toward Zigzag Road at around 11:50 p.m.

Authorities said that upon reaching the site of the incident, the pickup driver miscalculated the distance and accidentally hit the left front and rear portions of the other vehicle. However, the pickup continued moving forward, prompting the vehicle to chase it.

When both vehicles reached the curved downhill portion of the road, the pickup driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to hit a telco post alongside the road and swerve to a stop in the middle of the road.

Responding barangay personnel added that witnesses reportedly said the driver was drunk.

Both vehicles were damaged, and the cost is still undetermined.

The pickup driver was immediately brought by a responding ambulance to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
