The city government of Parañaque, in support of its “Zero Plastic” program, has distributed steel cage bins as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen solid waste management.
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the distribution was carried out by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) to further expand the implementation of the “Zero Plastic in Landfill – You Segregate, We Collect” initiative.
The program encourages proper waste segregation and promotes more efficient and sustainable waste collection practices within residential communities.
CENRO officials have started distributing steel cage bins to selected condominiums in Barangays San Dionisio, Sto. Niño, and Baclaran.
They added that the distribution will help condominiums manage recyclable and residual wastes more effectively, reduce the amount of plastic waste sent to landfills, and promote environmentally responsible practices among residents.
Olivarez noted that the activity forms part of CENRO’s programs under the Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Campaign, which aims to raise environmental awareness, instill discipline, and encourage active citizen participation in protecting the environment.
