The Department of Tourism (DOT) highlighted Camiguin as the Philippines’ sole entry in The New York Times’ “52 Places to Go in 2026” for its natural beauty, vibrant tourism, and improved visitor access.
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco said the recognition highlights Camiguin’s rise as a globally competitive and sustainable destination.
Camiguin’s “Isle Visit Camiguin 2026” campaign aims to enhance visitor experiences.
The initiative features nearly completed infrastructure projects, including the widening of the 40-kilometer circumferential road and the island’s first boardwalk in Mambajao.
The island continues to expand adventure, sports, marine, and cruise tourism.
It hosts events such as triathlons, the Camiguin Dive Festival, the Isle Bike Tour, and the “Climb Camiguin” activity.
Cultural and culinary attractions, including the sunken cemetery, hot and cold springs, eco-farms, and the Lanzones Festival, complement these experiences to give visitors a full and immersive taste of the island.
DOT Region X has promoted Camiguin internationally through major travel expos.
These include the Philippine Travel Mart, Central Philippines Travel Expo, Mindanao Tourism Expo, and roadshows in Taiwan.
The New York Times featured Camiguin alongside global destinations such as Los Angeles, Nagasaki, Okinawa, Armenia, Iceland, Assisi, Warsaw, Melbourne, Bangkok, and Vietnam.
