The Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) rescued a construction worker who was in distress inside an employee barracks at an under-construction building at Parada Elementary School in Barangay Parada, Valenzuela City, on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
Police said the individual, a 48-year-old male welder assigned to the school building project, was found inside the barracks while holding a bladed object.
Initial reports showed that a site engineer sought immediate assistance from Sub-Station 1 personnel after noticing the worker’s condition.
Responding officers, together with members of the Special Reaction Unit, immediately proceeded to the area.
Through calm communication and sustained dialogue, police were able to de-escalate the situation.
The worker later voluntarily surrendered the bladed object and was secured safely without injury.
Barangay officials, the Valenzuela City Rescue Team, and the Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit assisted to ensure the safety of everyone involved during the response.
The worker was later brought to the Valenzuela City Social Welfare and Development Office for counseling and appropriate intervention.
Police said an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
