POLICE swiftly arrested a man who allegedly robbed a couple in Quezon, Isabela.
QUEZON, Isabela – Police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a couple less than an hour after committing the crime in Barangay Arellano here on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13.
The suspect was identified as Edmar, 36, of Tabuk City, Kalinga.
The Quezon Municipal Police Station said the victims were buying mobile phone load when the suspect appeared and took their bag containing cash, jewelry, and important documents at 4:20 p.m. at gunpoint.
Edmar fled onboard the victim’s vehicle and police conducted a manhunt that resulted in his arrest at 5:15 p.m.
Recovered from the suspect were the stolen items, the vehicle, and a suspected firearm and illegal drugs.
Edmar is in police custody and faces appropriate charges.
Philippine National Police chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. underscored the PNP’s resolve to act against crimes targeting civilians.
“Crimes that threaten public safety will be met with firm police action,” he said. “Hindi namin hahayaang mailagay sa panganib ang buhay ng kahit sino (We won’t let the lives of people be in danger).”
