CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City – Police destroyed confiscated illegal firecrackers and improvised cannons in this camp on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Quezon police chief Police Col. Romulo Albacea led the ceremony, witnessed by the Bureau of Fire Protection, Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, and Provincial Explosive Ordnance Canine Unit.
Albacea said these firecrackers were confiscated by police stations throughout the province during the holiday season. Some were voluntarily surrendered by vendors to avoid cases.
He said that no casualties, only minor injuries, were reported during the holiday season.
The Police Regional Office 4-A also destroyed seized firecrackers in Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna, recently.
Meanwhile, the body of a suspected ‘’salvage’’ or summary execution victim was found by joggers under a bridge in a bypass road in Lipa City on Tuesday morning, Jan. 13.
Police said the victim’s hands were hogtied and a gunshot wound to the head.
A fired cartridge case and a deformed fired bullet were discovered near the victim’s body.
