ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 has revealed its achievements in the Western Visayas region for 2025.
The PRO-6 said there was a 1.51 percent decrease in the total number of crime incidents last year. A total of 20,280 were recorded in 2025, compared to 20,590 in 2024.
PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan attributed this to crime prevention strategies, including increase in police visibility and community engagement.
Illegal drugs – 75.31 kilos of shabu and 22.69 kilos of marijuana – valued at P514 million were seized from 2,346 drug suspects in 1,806 anti-drug operations from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.
Seven-hundred twelve fugitives were arrested in the campaign against wanted persons, a 79 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Police recovered 2,346 guns and 202 explosives in 495 operations in the campaign against illegal firearms.
PRO-6 reported a 26.8 percent decrease in complaints filed against police officers and other personnel with only 79 involving 104 individuals, compared to 108 complaints and 141 personnel in 2024.
“Every complaint is an opportunity to reinforce accountability and strengthen public trust. The decline in complaints and the resolution of cases demonstrate our dedication to serving with integrity and professionalism,” said Ligan.
Ligan vowed to continue their strategies to sustain last year’s gains.
Data covers the term of Ligan and his predecessor Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky and the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo as well as the regional capital Iloilo City.
