ACTING Iloilo City police chief Police Col. Wilbert Parilla with Mayor Raisa Treñas. (Office of Mayor Treñas)
ILOILO CITY – This city had three different police chiefs in the span of less than a week.
Police Col. Wilbert Parilla became the acting chief of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on Wednesday, Jan. 14, following the assignment of Police Col. Roland Bulalacao as the new chief of staff of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Silang, Cavite.
The Police Regional Office-6 assigned Parilla, chief of the PRO-6 Regional Intelligence Division, as concurrent ICPO chief, but Camp Crame moved him to the PNPA.
Bulalacao replaced Police Col. Kim Legada as ICPO chief on Friday, Jan. 9.
Legada was sacked from his post due to the alleged mishandling of the investigation on the death of Dueñas, Iloilo Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan.
Legada and a police station commander were removed from their posts less than two days after the visit of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Nartatez Jr.
Parilla assured that he will continue the work of Legada and Bulalacao.
