Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13, the arrest of Manila’s Top 1 Most Wanted Person, a murder suspect linked to the killing of a criminology student in Tondo in October 2023.
Domagoso said the suspect, identified as Prince Aethan Cruz, was arrested by operatives of the Manila Police District pursuant to a warrant of arrest for murder following a manhunt operation conducted by district intelligence and tracker teams.
Addressing the public during a livestream at Manila City Hall, Domagoso reiterated his administration’s firm stance against criminality, warning that offenders will be pursued regardless of how long it takes.
“Gusto ko pong ipaalam sa ating mga kababayan sa lungsod na ’yung Top 1 Most Wanted ng City of Manila at ng Manila Police District ay nakalawit na po, nadala na po ng Manila Police District (I want to inform our fellow Manileños that the Top 1 Most Wanted of the City of Manila and the Manila Police District has been arrested and taken into custody by the MPD),” Domagoso said.
“Kapag ginawa niyo ang krimen sa Maynila, we will go after you no matter how long, how short, to find you. There is no place for you in this country once you commit a crime in the City of Manila (If you commit a crime in Manila, we will go after you no matter how long or how short it takes. There is no place for you in this country once you commit a crime in the City of Manila),” he added.
Domagoso said Cruz was tagged as the city’s Top 1 Most Wanted in connection with a crime committed in October 2023, with the victim identified as a resident of Tondo, District 2. The arrest was carried out under an existing warrant of arrest for murder.
The mayor also commended MPD officers for apprehending the suspect without loss of life, emphasizing the importance of disciplined police operations and adherence to due process.
“I’m happy sa tolerance ng ating Manila Police District na makuha ang mga suspect nang buhay at sila ay madala sa mata ng batas at hustisya (I am pleased with the restraint of the Manila Police District in capturing suspects alive and bringing them before the law and justice),” he said.
Domagoso assured the victim’s family that the city government and the MPD remain committed to pursuing justice, while also assuring residents that authorities will continue to protect the public and hold criminals accountable.
“Pumanatag kayo, mga Batang Maynila. Hangga’t nandito tayo, lahat ng mga naapi at mabibiktima, we will do our best in our own little way through the help of the Manila Police District—that everyone who committed a crime will be brought to justice, and justice will be served (Be at ease, Batang Maynila. As long as we are here, we will do our best, with the help of the Manila Police District, to ensure that everyone who committed a crime will be brought to justice),” he said.
