President Marcos welcomed DAMAC Digital’s planned investment in the Philippines, including what is expected to be the country’s largest data center, during a business meeting in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
In a Facebook post, Marcos said he was “very excited” about the firm’s plans, including what is set to be the country's largest data center, with a capacity of up to 250 MW.
“This positions the Philippines as an emerging data center hub in the region,” he wrote.
“We continue to welcome investments that strengthen our digital economy, create high-quality jobs, and prepare our country for the demands of the future,” he added.
According to Malacañang, Marcos met with DAMAC Digital executives during his working visit to the United Arab Emirates on Jan. 13.
The meeting discussed DAMAC Digital’s planned investments in the Philippines, including the establishment of a major data center facility in Laguna.
It added that the talks explored opportunities for collaboration in the country’s digital infrastructure sector, highlighting the Philippines’ potential as a hub for data centers, cloud services, and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven technologies.
During the meeting, President Marcos assured DAMAC Digital that the government would prioritize the project, noting that the company is investing in a sector the Philippines aims to develop further.
The Palace said the investment aligns with the administration’s push to expand digital infrastructure and support emerging technologies.
DAMAC Digital is a Dubai-based digital infrastructure company under the DAMAC Group that designs, builds, and operates data centers. The company focuses on developing world-class facilities to support high-density requirements and emerging technologies, including AI.
Malacañang said DAMAC Digital is expanding beyond the Middle East to meet growing global demand and better serve its customers.
