Malarayat storms to 3-shot lead

LIPA CITY, Batangas -- Nath Alcantara scored 35 points and Rafael Diaz had 34 at Mount Malarayat as Malarayat 1 seized a three-point lead in the Championship Division of the third Barako Cup on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

LIPA CITY, Batangas -- Nath Alcantara scored 35 points and Rafael Diaz had 34 at Mount Malarayat as Malarayat 1 seized a three-point lead in the Championship Division of the third Barako Cup on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Mount Malarayat also drew a 32 from Jakob Taruc to give the team 101 points, three clear of Fiesta Mall’s 98. Team Master assembled 95 followed closely by Pelican 1’s 92.

Competition in Division 1 was tight with Team JT Moland (96) slightly ahead from Malarayat 2 (84).

Scoring for Team JT Moland were Vicente Jose Roxas 34, Clifford Bertulfo 28 and Paolo Katigbak 24.

Over at Summit Point, Jackrabbits 1, spearheaded by the 24s of Randy Aguillo and JP Gutierrez, was on top of Division 2 with 74 points.

Jackrabbits 2, meanwhile, began its campaign in Division 3 with 61 points. SB Barako stayed within striking distance with 60.
