SANTA CRUZ, Laguna - The Laguna Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26 here has issued an arrest warrant against businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang over his alleged involvement in the disappearance of dozens of sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts.
Ang faces kidnapping with homicide and kidnapping cases before three Regional Trial Courts in Lipa City, Batangas; this town, and San Pablo City, this province.
Charges are non-bailable.
The arrest warrant issued by presiding Judge Mary Jean Cajandab-Ong dated Jan. 13, 2026, ordered concerned law officers to use at least one body-worn camera and one alternative recording device pursuant to the Rules on the Use of Body-Worn Cameras in the Execution of Warrants issued by the Supreme Court.
The case stemmed in 2022 over the mysterious disappearances of several cockfight enthusiasts and erupted back into the public consciousness last year after the appearance of whistleblower Julie "Dondon" Patidongan, also known as Totoy, who claimed to know where their bodies had been dumped in Taal Lake.
He said as many as 100 people were murdered over their alleged involvement in match-fixing.
Patidongan tagged Ang, his former boss, as the mastermind behind the disappearances. Ang has denied the accusations.
