Amid fintech’s growing exposure to cybercrime, online cash lender JuanHand has entered into a partnership with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) to protect borrowers from cybercrime losses.
JuanHand said the lender’s deal with the PNP-ACG, an agency responsible for combating cybercrime in the Philippines, aims to shield borrowers from scammers.
Joint efforts by JuanHand and the PNP-ACG will focus on public awareness campaigns on responsible and safe borrowing, as well as educating consumers on how to flag and avoid “predatory” lending schemes.
“Initiatives such as information sharing, training programs, and public workshops on the evolving nature of cyber threats form part of the agreement,” JuanHand said in a Jan. 14 statement.
JuanHand President and CEO Francisco Roberto D.C. Mauricio said the new partnership strengthens the company’s efforts to protect consumers in the digital lending space.
“Through education and collaboration, we aim to help consumers avoid scams and borrow safely from legitimate platforms. Responsible borrowing is a force for good that ultimately leads to financial empowerment,” he added.
JuanHand has so far disbursed more than ₱85 billion in loans and recorded over 20 million registrations. It aims to expand access to credit for underserved communities through fast and compliant digital lending services.
